For some odd reason, Jackie enjoys a good ear cleansing. Not her own ears mind you, but those of any other warm blooded being that has ears accessible to a little dog with a long tongue.
We learned this about Jacqueline soon after we brought her home. I remember holding her up close to my face, (because nothing is as special as holding a little warm furry doggie up against one's cheek,) and her promptly putting one paw on my cheek to balance herself, and then plunging her tongue right into the old ear canal. At first it was a bit repulsive, but as time went on it became endearing, and so now one of Jacqueline's official duties is that of Ear Cleaner.
Check in next week for a new chapter in The Adventures of Angel and Jacqueline. And don't forget to check out the Carnival of the Dogs at Mickey's Musings, and the Friday Ark at The Modulator for more interesting animals.

Posted by: Aloysius at July 7, 2006 2:41 PMOur Siamese pairs clean each others ears. Not so the ragdolls. But Nicky has a thing for ear wax. I know it is disgusting but if you stick your finger in your ear and come up with some of the waxy clumps, he will seek out your finger and lick it off. He is also the only one of our cats that will actually eat that nasty hairball medicine by choice, as if it were a treat.
Posted by: s at July 8, 2006 8:14 AMI'm wondering if this is part of some dominant/submissive behavior or if she just likes the taste of earwax. Clearly the other animals don't mind a bit!
