Jacqueline and her Grass

Jackie is almost two and a half years old. She has been going on walks with Angel and I since she was maybe four months old. Like most dogs, Jackie loves the great outdoors; she explores her world mostly with her nose, but she loves to see what the world has to offer as well. She will often refuse to walk, and hold her ground until I relent and pick her up, and carry her. It's not because she is tired or lazy, but because she wants to see the world from on-high. She wants to see the world from the perspective of being way up off the ground.

Because she is so interested in her world I am amazed it took her so long to figure out grass. It's not like she has never had any experience with it before; it exists wherever we walk, and we often would sit and relax in one of the grassy areas that border our walkways. But until recently she never caught on to the fact that grass can be cool and comforting. Now that she has, I can hardly get her past a patch of grass of any size, as the next few photos will show...

My baby Jackie loves to lay flat in the grass, and then push her little face down to where the smallest bugs are.
It doesn't show up in this picture, but she usually comes up out of the grass with something on her face. You can click on the picture to see a larger version, and around her muzzle are a few bits of whatever was in the grass.
I just like this picture because she looks adorable.
Papa is just a joker. Here he is showing the camera his heinie, and is laughing.
Jackie looking elegant.

What Jackie and Angel don't know is that we are considering buying a house soon, and when we do they will finally have their own grass to do with as they please. (We haven't told them yet because it isn't official, so don't tell them!!)

Check in next week for a new chapter in The Adventures of Angel and Jacqueline. And don't forget to check out the Carnival of the Dogs at Mickey's Musings, and the Friday Ark at The Modulator for more interesting animals.

I went out with a woman who's dog was AFRAID of grass. It was a pug and it would not walk on grass EVER. Freak--the dog, not the woman. Well, on second thought...

My little Coco was a rescued dog when I adopted him. Initally he had many fears... one of those fears involved greass. Maybe he had never experienced grass before.. I don't know.. but he refused to walk on it at all. It took a long time and a big yard but he now enjoys the pleasures of rolling, running and laying in grass. Good luck with the plans for getting a house. That would be wonderful for all of you.
