Today I thought we might do something new, something that might involve most all of our pets rather than just Jackie and Angel. So today we are going to play...
Let's Find the Pets!
First, let's look for Thalia.
Thalia isn't a very good hider. She has so much energy that it is difficult for her to stay put for very long. She also isn't very bright, so she thinks just because she saw an ostrich do it once on some nature show on the Discovery Channel, that it works for cats as well. Of course I am talking about...
Next is my boy Angel.
Angel is pretty good at hiding. He learned early that if he doesn't want to take a bath, he better hide well. However, when he takes a nap he puts minimal effort into his hiding. It looks like this time he adopted Thalia's idea of hiding the head, and the body will follow...
Next is the baby of the house, Jackie.
Jacqueline doesn't really need to hide. She is so little that she is pretty much hidden all of the time. But here she is in her crate.
Now we will go looking for Salem, the matriarch of the house.
Salem hides from no one.
Finally we look for the best hider of all, Ebby.
Ebby is a loner in a house full of activity, and it wears on her nerves. She longs for solitude, and will search it out at all costs. Once she finds it, she clings to it like lichen to a rock. But, where is my sweet Ebby today? It took me a while, but I found her...
And that's all we have this week. Check in next week for a new chapter in The Adventures of Angel and Jacqueline. And don't forget to check out the Carnival of the Dogs at Mickey's Musings, and the Friday Ark at The Modulator for more interesting animals.
What a delightful gang you have there. I so enjoyed the search.
Posted by: Simply Coll at August 10, 2006 11:00 AMAs long as you're not finding animals that you've never seen before, you're okay!
Posted by: 40 Ounce Loudmouth at August 10, 2006 11:39 AMActually, we DID find an extra animal the other day! Evidently Thalia found a mouse trespassing on our property. That, unfortunately for the mouse, is punishable by death. I found the poor little critter in the living room, cold and stiff.
Thalia used to favor my stepdaughter when she still lived with us. Thalia once brought her a dead mouse. My stepdaughter did not appreciate this present much. I felt sorry for Thalia because she tried so hard to please.
Posted by: Jeff at August 10, 2006 1:52 PMAwwww, my kitty Max used to bring me all kinds of presents like that. He loved to share!

clapclapclapclapclap [& the crowd goes crazy!]
Posted by: whaleshaman at August 11, 2006 7:30 AMWhat a wonderful bunch of photos Jeff. I enjoyed them so much! I think Thalia is beautiful and I think is soooooo cute the way she puts her head in the fleece blanket.
Actually, they are all quite adorable.
Posted by: Bill at August 11, 2006 12:41 PMMy van hit a flying bird once and it stuck in the grill, although I didn't know it. Several weeks later, I kept finding feathers. I chalked it up to my daughter's obsession with collecting feathers at the time. Then one day I was reading the paper in my room and reached down to pick up the next piece and there was "the present". A completely mummified, featherless bird. No cats to be seen until I threw it away and then a ring of four Siamese faces around my chair.
Makes me wonder if they all hid under the bed and watched after the designated cat dropped the gift off.
Posted by: srp at August 12, 2006 7:57 AMThalia's faceplant is reknowned!
Posted by: Fiona at August 12, 2006 9:48 AMThat was fun! Our boy Maurice, who was seen in a pathetic state in this week's carnival of cats, was found doing the face-plant pose today. We woke him up, too - mainly because we wanted to make sure he was alive.
Our black kitty, Quan Yin, is a good hider, like Ebby. I wonder if it's in the black kitty genes?
Now, what happens if Salem sits on Jacqueline?
Posted by: Da Nator at August 13, 2006 7:18 PMSalem, much like Ebby, is a loner, and tends to stay away from the dogs. But, if challenged Salem will remind dogs and cats alike who was here first, and that she is still capable of keeping the top spot in the house hierarchy.
I love Salem. She doesn't get much air-time here on Athenamama because she isn't all that active. Maybe I can spotlight her here soon.
Posted by: Jeff at August 13, 2006 7:53 PMOh, please do a spotlight on Salem. She's such a magnificent matron ! And there's so much of her to see and adore too...
Posted by: Babeth at August 14, 2006 6:21 AMShall I add the last ones of Salem and Thalia to the COTC catmodels banner?
Posted by: Laurence Simon at August 14, 2006 9:38 AMLaurence,
Feel free to grab whatever photos you like for the COTC catmodels banner.
Thanks.
