Thalia seems to be really enjoying the new bathroom.
If you have ever wanted to see a nifty little presentation of Disneyland as it has evolved over the past fifty years, then you are in for a treat. Click here, and sit back and watch Disneyland morph through the years.
By the way, you need to have Java installed to enjoy the presentation.
Our little Jacqueline weighs in at a hefty 6.5 pounds as an adult. When we first brought her home, she was just 1.4 pounds. Before we met her, had you told me I would one day own a Chihuahua, I would have laughed in your face and made some sort of unflattering comment about Paris Hilton and her little dog, Tinkerbell.
Weird how some things in life work out.
So, here are a few pictures I ran across of Jackie when she was just a little squirt. This is Jacqueline during her first week home. She is my cute little skidamarink.
I was so proud of my efforts to remodel our bathroom that I decided to take a few pictures.
While I was busy taking pictures, Thalia showed up to check out my work.

Hmmm… Somehow that title just doesn’t seem to flow the way I thought it would. But it WAS 25 years ago today that I attended the 25 hour long party at Disneyland celebrating the park’s twenty-fifth anniversary.
To accommodate twenty-five hours of fun in a twenty-four hour day, Disneyland opened at 12:01pm on July 17, 1980, and stayed open until 1:00am July 18, 1980. I was there for a full twenty-four hours leaving just a little before the party ended, but only because I wanted to beat the crowds out of the parking lot.
That was the only trip to Disneyland in my life where I actually ALMOST became bored with it. Fortunately, with all that time in the park I was able to hit almost every attraction. From the Haunted Mansion and the Pirates of the Caribbean, to the Storybook Land Canal Boats and the Main Street Cinema, I saw it all.
Surprisingly it was pretty empty throughout the day, but as it neared 8pm, the crowd grew exponentially in anticipation of the highly publicized parade and fireworks show. Our little group staked out a spot at the hub, and had a great view of the fireworks, but afterwards we could hardly move through the throngs of people that had arrived.
It’s hard to believe it’s been that long since Disneyland’s twenty-fifth anniversary. I won’t be going this year, though. I think the crowds will be huge, it will definitely be hot, and I really can’t afford it anyway. Besides, it couldn't top the party twenty-five years ago anyway.
Being a cat or dog around my house is rough work. Most of their time is taken up napping, and so it should come as no surprise that most of their photographs are taken during this time. It is, after all, the best time for me to take their picture. It’s the only time they are in one place long enough for me to experiment with all the settings on my camera until I find the right combination for decent enough picture to post here. You know, the kind of shot that won’t embarrass me once it is posted here for all to see.
So here are a few of each of our regulars here at Athenamama; Thalia, Jacqueline, and Angel.
In the waning days of April 1970, my parents gathered us up and shuttled us off to the beach. We wondered why we were going on such a gloomy afternoon, but once we arrived it became rather apparent.
This is the La Janelle, a Luxury Liner that met the end of her days humiliated on a sand bar off the coast of Port Hueneme. My brother brought along his Kodak Instamatic that day, and took this lone picture of the wreck. (Film was pricey back then.)
Today the La Janelle is a breakwater. She was ultimately entombed in concrete right where she ran aground. Most people, even when looking right at her, have no idea that this grand ship ever existed, much less that she is permanently anchored right off our coastline.
Thalia likes to sleep on a sheep skin that rests across the back of our couch. This is her favorite position...
I guess it's soft on the face.
The other day Jacqueline had her bath. SHe is small enough that she gets to take her bath in the sink.
Even wet, she is lovely.
I have been favoring Jacqueline and Angel over the rest of our pets as far as pet blogging goes, and so I figured a photograph of my beautiful Thalia was in order. So here it is...
