Where's My Daddy?

Jackie is pretty attached to her daddy. (Me.) When I get home from work, and after she and Angel have been properly walked and fed, I usually retire to the sanctuary of my bedroom to rest for a while before my wife comes home.

I go upstairs by myself leaving Jackie and Angel downstairs in the living room where their luxurious pillows are. However, once I am in my room, every day without fail, I soon hear the clacking of tiny toenails as Jackie gallops up the stairs. She looks for her daddy by scanning the bedroom as soon as she enters, and when she spots me she pours it on full speed, and almost leaps into my arms. I will usually pick her up and set her on the bed with me while I watch TV or read. She will rest peacefully next to me, secure in her little heart that daddy is right there with her.

Later in the evening I must of course get ready for bed. Jackie will follow me wherever I go, and for some reason which I am unable to explain, I don't like company while I am in the bathroom, so I close our bedroom door locking Jackie inside.

Here is what I see each night as I return to our bedroom for the night...

"Where's my daddy?" She says. Please, no comments about the condition of my door. I am proud of those little nicks because they are the result of years of dogs and cats "knocking" at the door so that they can be let in. If nothing else, they are a very polite bunch.

Morning Blahs with Angel and Jackie (and Salem and Thalia)

I am a little late today because I am not feeling well. I went to work anyway because I have a meeting with one of our customers, and to be honest with you I don't think they care too much either way about how I feel.

But enough about me, you came here of course to get your weekly fill of Angel and Jacqueline and what they have done that is so fascinating that I write about it once a week. So let's get to it...

Papa knew I wasn't feeling well, and wanted me to stay home this morning. This is how he throws a fit when he doesn't get his way.
Jackie is more straight forward, and looks at me as if I was some kind of kook. After all, who but a kook would go to work when they aren't feeling up to snuff, AND could hang out with two fun little dogs all day!
Well, I am that kook, and Papa knows it, so he sulks some more.
Jackie gave up on me, and just settled in for her early morning, just-after-breakfast nap.
Salem thinks we are ALL kooky.
And Thalia is sure of it.

At the Movies with Angel and Jacqueline

Last night Angel, Jacqueline, and myself were all upstairs watching Bogart in The Desperate Hours, and after the movie ended we decided to have a little fun with the camera. Well, I decided to have fun with the camera, they decided to just act like little doggies...

My little papa wearing his forlorn, "Are we gonna watch another Bogart movie, or what?" look. Angel LOVES Bogie.
Jackie also likes Bogie, but only if Lauren Bacall is in the movie. Here she shows her disappointment in the last movie not having a roll for Bacall. She’s a true romantic.
After a while Jackie decides to clean her brother's ears.
Having had enough ear cleaning, and more than a little mad the second feature was going to be "Hellfighters", Angel retreats to his "happy place". (Don't get him wrong, Angel also loves John Wayne. He just doesn't think"Hellfighters" was the Duke's best work.)

Baby Pictures

It was a slow week around our household, and so I am afraid I wasn't able to take any fascinating pictures of Angel and Jacqueline for your viewing pleasure. However, when I am stuck with such a problem I have the perfect solution.

Baby pictures....

My little baby Jacqueline in the picture that made her famous. Well, one day it will make her famous, anyway.
This could have been a great shot had it not been for the lack of light when I took it, (Photoshop brought it out from the darkness,) and for the poor background subject matter; my right foot. But of course Jackie's beauty outweighs all that.
Jackie in the sheepskin throw that would later make Thalia famous.
And finally, Jackie at the top of Mount Angel.

Angel is two years older than his sister. These next few pictures were taken during his first days in his new home.

This is my little man's first photo ever in his new home.
We took a few pictures of Angel next to this Pooh Bear for reference, however if you don't know how big the Pooh Bear is, it really doesn't help much.
Angel sleeping with his very first toy. I have that toy in my sock drawer. I brought it out the other day and showed it to him, and he went bananas.
Asleep on his daddy's slipper. I wear a size 12 slipper, so maybe that helps as a better point of reference.

Cousin Darla

Meet Darla, the newest member of our extended family, and first cousin to Angel and Jacqueline.

My sister recently moved back to Ventura, and is semi-retired. (Yes, I hate her.) She found her days longer than anticipated, and so she figured she needed a new best friend to help her round out those days. So, my sister found Darla, and has brought her home to live with her, and fill that need.

Darla is a Black Labrador puppy, and is as friendly and lovable as any dog you will meet. She still hasn't figured out her size yet, but it sure is fun watching her try. Jackie and Angel have not yet met Darla because there has been a bit of trepidation on my part concerning Darla's lack of coordination, not to mention a lack of understanding her own size and strength. I would hate for her to squish my little Jackie. I also worry about Jackie's now galvanized fear of large dogs. But I think they will all get together one day for a nice little backyard romp, and perhaps Darla can help my little Jackie see that all large dogs aren't bad.

Who could resist that face?
Darla and her favorite toy. Forget all about that silly rubber thing Uncle Jeff got me, this bowl is da bomb!
Lab, Pointer, what's the difference?
Some day maybe Jackie will even give Darla one of her famous ear cleanings. If she can reach them, that is.
